**************************************************************************

A Hope Undaunted is the first book in Julie Lessman’s new series Winds of Change. The Winds of Change series continues the O’Connor family saga that the Daughters of Boston series started.

A Hope Undaunted is about the sassy youngest daughter of Marcy and Patrick O’Connor, Katie. The book takes place during the 1920’s where some pivotal events in our history take place. Julie choose a great decade for the backdrop of Katie’s story which made it interesting and unique.

If you have been reading my book blog for any length of time you know I am a Julie Lessman fan. For the last year or so my interest in Christian books has been waning some as it just seems some plots etc. get used over and over. Not so in Julie’s case! After I finished A Hope Undaunted and closed it with a heartfelt sigh I marveled at the mind of the delightful Mrs Lessman. It amazes me how one person can create a 500+ page novel that has all the twists and turns of your favorite roller coaster! Julie had me laughing, crying, and at one point mad enough to want me to throw the book across the room. Yet I kept reading because I was so attached to the characters….and I had to know what happened. In the end the reader is satisfied with not only an ending they want but with a story that is excellent and leaves you wanting more.

Sassy Katie has her hands full with her beau, Jack, an unwanted attraction to her nemesis, and a problem with her Dad and his holding of the purse strings. Katie’s growth from the beginning to the end of A Hope Undaunted is a testimony to the Grace of our God and to the fact that He never lets us go….and hope unfurled in our heart is enough for us to take the steps forward that must be taken even if it means letting go of the things we think we really want.

A Hope Undaunted is another 5 star story from Julie Lessman….and you get a chance to catch up with your favorite O’Connor girls and their families.

A Hope Undaunted is the start of a new series and can be read as a stand alone but I really do suggest that you read the Daughter’s of Boston series first…you will not be disappointed!

Now we just have to wait for the next book in the Winds of Change series, A Heart Revealed, which is definitely the hard part of being a Julie Lessman fan!

About the Book:

What happens when the boy she loved to hate … becomes the man she hates to love?

The 1920s are drawing to a close, and feisty Katie O’Connor is the epitome of the new woman–smart and sassy with goals for her future that include the perfect husband and a challenging career in law. Her boyfriend Jack fits all of her criteria for a husband–good-looking, well-connected, wealthy, and eating out of her hand. But when she is forced to spend the summer of 1929 with Cluny McGee, the bane of her childhood existence, Katie comes face to face with a choice. Will she follow her well-laid plans to marry Jack? Or will she fall for the man she swore to despise forever?

This looks like a great read Christy! I know what you mean about Christian books using the same plotlines over and over. Gets a tad tedious. I’ll keep a look out for Julie Lessman in my Christian bookstore. P xo

CHRISTY!!! You wanted to throw the book across the room????

Grin … then I accomplished what I set out to do — make you feel every emotion in the book. After all, why should I be the only one who goes through a ringer of emotion when I write these things???

Seriously, my friend, I am totally blessed by this incredible review and SO thrilled that you liked AHU!!! Your reviews are always so beautifully written and from the heart … like you!!

And I have a STRONG feeling that the next book in the series will be a favorite of yours because Emma Malloy reminds me a lot of you with her gentle spirit and love for God. You may have heard me say that both my husband and crit partner say A Heart Revealed will be my best book yet, and my 92-year-old aunt called it a “gangubster of a story,” so I hope you will think so too.

I love you and appreciate you more than I can say, Christy.

    BIG HUGS,
    Julie
