Redefining Beautiful by Jenna Lucado

I requested this book from Thomas Nelson’s review program because I work with teen girls.  They struggle so much with their looks and what beauty is and I wanted to find a resource that was God focused and encouraging.  When I saw Redefining Beautiful and saw that Max Lucado’s daughter had written I knew I wanted to check it out.

I loved this book.  It is a perfect resource for teen girls who are seeking more that what the world tells them.  The world tells them they have to be skinny, blonde, and tall.  So many girls just don’t measure up to today’s standards.  This book talks about this and so much more.  It is also interactive sections of questions and small quizzes.  It also has a section with Notes from Max and beauty tips and life accessories that are little things to remember such as how God defines beauty.

I was very impressed with Redefining Beautiful.  It is written with an easy flow of conversational tone that would be great for preteen to young adult women.  It is refreshingly honest and insightful and easily kept the girls I work with engaged.

So if you have any young women in your life I would highly recommend picking up Redefining Beautiful to encourage them to look past skin deep and look at the heart and how our God sees us!

About the Book:

Not feeling very beautiful? Learn what beauty is from God’s perspective.

Revolve speaker Jenna Lucado has teamed up with her dad, Max Lucado, to bring girls a fresh perspective on what they need to live a life of peace, joy, and confidence. What does God see when He looks at them? And how does a girl catch that vision?

Jenna reveals life accessories that are essential, and which single accessory is a real must-have to give teens a look they love—a look that says they are comfortable with who they are and secure and confident. What’s the all-important accessory? Love from a father. But what happens when there is no loving father in sight, no daddy to tell them they are beautiful?

Through conversational “girl time” Jenna reveals that when we look to God as our Father, He can change our focus, our look, and our lives. With affirmation from Max, Redefining Beautiful will change the way girls look at God, themselves, and the people around them.

Thank You Thomas Nelson for my complimentary copy of Redefining Beautiful.
